About SalaryData
SalaryData is an independent UK salary data publication. Every figure on the site traces back to a named source, every calculation is reproducible from published methodology, and nothing is gated behind email signup or a paywall.
What we publish
Median pay, quartile ranges and experience bands for 30 UK job titles across 20 cities, refreshed annually when the ONS publishes new Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings data. Every salary page links the underlying ONS bulletin and documents the regional multiplier applied. The take-home pay calculator uses the current 2024/25 income-tax bands, National Insurance thresholds and student-loan plan repayment rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Editorial standards
- Primary-source first. Salary base figures come from ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (the 1% HMRC PAYE sample). We do not republish employer self-reported data (Glassdoor, Indeed) as our base figure — those are useful cross-checks, not the source of truth.
- Reproducible methodology. Every adjustment applied to the raw ONS figure (regional multiplier, cost-of-living index, experience banding) is documented on the methodology page. If you can't reproduce a figure from our stated method and the published ONS data, we consider that a reporting error and will correct it.
- Tax-year accuracy. Take-home calculations always reflect the current UK tax year. The 2024/25 calculator applies on this site from 6 April 2024. We update rates within two weeks of HMRC publishing new thresholds.
- Corrections, not silent edits. Material errors are corrected with a dated note on the affected page. We do not silently overwrite figures.
- Affiliate disclosure. We earn commission on Reed job-listing clicks and TopCV / CV-Library CV review sign-ups. Affiliate relationships never influence which numbers we publish — base figures come from ONS regardless.
How SalaryData makes money
Revenue comes from two affiliate relationships: Reed.co.uk (per-click payment when users visit a live job listing from a salary page) and TopCV / CV-Library (per-signup payment for CV-review services). No subscriptions, no gated content, no email capture required to see any figure on the site.
